Pierre Martel was at our wedding in June 1973. Shortly after that he went to study medicine in Sénégal. One of the important reasons for going to Africa was to help the Bahá'í community develop. He met Kamachee while in Africa. She was also there for the Bahá'í Faith.
They married and had two children.
Probably the last time we had seen Pierre was on the occasion of a previous visit to his parents in St-Romuald just South of Québec City, maybe in 1978.
When I was in Québec last June visiting my mother, I learned that Pierre and Kamachi were in town. Elizabeth Wright and her husband Jean-Yves Larin, two old friends organized a get-together for a bunch of friends from those days in the early 1970s.
Here are photos taken on that occasion. Pierre had not changed a bit. He said he did not recognize me but recognized my voice.
